Meet Nicole Ratcliffe

The Workplace Sleep Coach

I'm Nicole Ratcliffe

Nicole Ratcliffe has been researching the impact of sleep deprivation in the workplace, and supporting businesses to become more aware of both the financial costs and the productivity loss to themselves, and supporting their workforce to improve their sleep. Nicole’s speciality is supporting parents with sleep, and helping them to improve their baby or child’s sleep, increasing their knowledge, empowering them, and positively changing their mindset around sleep, which in turn improves sleep for the family, improves productivity and efficiency in work, and increases employee loyalty leading to a higher retention rate and cost savings. Family-friendly policies are high up on the list of ‘must have’s’ for top talent looking for employment. Let Nicole help you become the company that attracts the best candidates and achieve a high retention rate.

Nicole was our guest speaker for a virtual webinar event hosted by the
John Lewis Partnership for the Working Parents Network. Her
presentation focused on the important topic of parental sleep
deprivation. Nicole's engaging and knowledgeable delivery kept our
audience captivated throughout the hour-long session. She shared her
personal experiences and provided valuable guidance and support to
our attendees.

Rebecca CandyChange Manager at John Lewis PartnershipChange

Yesterday the John Lewis Partnership Working Parents Network hosted an
event on a very important topic- Parental Sleep Deprivation. We were joined
by our fabulous guest Nicole Ratcliffe Sleep Specialist who spoke to us about
ways to improve sleep for both parents and their children.

The session was informative, engaging and interactive, and Nicole left us with
lots of great takeaways to consider going forward.
The stand out topics for me where signs of sleep deprivation and
understanding more about the science behind sleep.
As someone who doesn’t sleep well at all this session really made me realise
how much your body needs good quality sleep and the impact on your life and health long term if you don’t get it.
Thanks for working with Rebecca and I, Nicole.

Working with The Workplace Sleep Coach gave us valuable insights into how we can further support our working parents and carers, and ensure that they receive the help they need if they’re struggling from parental sleep deprivation. Not only did working directly with Nicole improve the mental health and productivity of the colleagues involved in the study, but it also let us know where we can improve our wider wellbeing support for all parents and carers in the business. We’ve already started work on some great initiatives to further equip our managers in having these conversations with their teams, and to remove the fear and stigma of talking about parental sleep problems. We’re really excited to keep driving forward our progress on this, and to explore how we can continue to work with The Workplace Sleep Coach going forward.

Nicole is so inspirational - she brings her sessions to life through the openness and honesty of her own experiences, which makes her so credible and relatable. Nicole hosted a session for staff and volunteers at the NSPCC shining a light on parental rage during Infant Mental Health Awareness Week. She opened up a discussion around a subject often taboo, giving us the confidence and space to safely consider how we can better support ourselves as care givers - and that it is a fundamental and normal requirement! Well done Nicole for championing in this space, you're making such a difference making waves through the different sectors.
